RUTH MARIE HASKINS

Ruth Marie Haskins, 79, of Joplin passed away on Jan. 20, 2024, at Spring River Christian Village with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born on Oct. 8, 1944, in Monett the daughter of Oscar and Ruby Marie (Lansdown) Amos.
On July 15, 1961, she married John Crowell in Pierce City. They were blessed with one son, Joseph Patrick, on April 17, 1963. They divorced in February of 1971 and she moved to Butterfield where she lived with her mother.
She went to Draughon’s Business College where she received training in bookkeeping. Later using those skills for Fritz Brothers in Monett, Hamilton-Patten Construction in Mt. Vernon, Hamilton Contracting in Mt. Vernon and for H&R Block in Republic. She also spent time tending bar at the Black Kettle restaurant in Monett.
On Aug. 16, 1984, she married Gerald Haskins of Nixa. Together they ran a construction company for many years. Her last employment was for the city of Billings as city clerk. She retired in 2019.
She is survived by her son, Joe Crowell of Pierce City; a granddaughter; and her sister, Judi Walker of Mt. Vernon.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Haskins; her parents; her sisters, Enid, Lola and an infant sister Sherry; and her brothers, Don and Charles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (200 E Front St. Pierce City, MO) on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 10:30 a.m. with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating. Burial will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
