Theresa “Tess” Friend

Theresa “Tess” Friend, 69, of Walnut Grove, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026. She was born Sept. 6, 1956, in Springfield, to Allen and Shirley (Crussell) Christian. 

Friend had a deep love for life on the family ranch. She took great pride in tending her garden, caring for the horses, and spending time with her loyal blue heeler dogs. A true country spirit, she enjoyed rodeos and the sound of country music. Her artistic talent shone through in her beautiful paintings, drawings and photography. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy.

Friend is survived by her children Brandon Simpson and wife Becca, Dakota Friend; five grandchildren; sister Becky Holman and husband Rex; family friend, Elijha Erwin; nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Christian and Shirley “Jack” Christian, and husband Benny Friend. 

Visitation was from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services began at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial following at Oak Grove Cemetery.
