THOMAS E. MAYES

Thomas E. Mayes, 75, of Springfield passed away on Dec. 25, 2024. He was born in Springfield on May 10, 1949; the son of Harold and Ruth “Maxine” (Meidinger) Mayes.
He graduated from Ash Grove High School and then enlisted in the US Marines, honorably serving his country. He worked as a dispatcher for Boatright Trucking for many years, until his retirement.
On Sept. 29, 2005, he married his wife, Arlene.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his son, Tim (Melanie) Mayes; step-children, Stacy (Scott) Chastain, Amy (Art) Sparrow, Julie Small and Donald Long; his brother, Larry (Linda) Mayes; his close friend, Shawn; numerous grand and great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. and burial will take place in Evergreen cemetery following the funeral service.
