Valerie Louise Peak

Valerie Louise Peak, 73, passed away Jan. 22, 2021 at Cox South hospital. She was born Nov. 11, 1947 in Springfield, the youngest child of Clell E. and M. Doris (Bresheras) Powell.
In 1964, she wed Kenneth D. “Peeler” Simmons and shared four children and 19 years of marriage. In 1984, she wed Marion E. “Jack” Peak and shared one child and 27 years of marriage until his death in 2011.
She was a homemaker her entire life, caring for her husband and children.
She is survived by children, David (Rachel) Simmons of Buffalo, Deidre (Matt) Elrod of Clever, Jessica (Adam) Rice of Stockton; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Janice) of Bolivar and Ron (Charlotte) of Marshfield; sister, Pat Healey of Nixa and Carolyn Hoskins of Strafford and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Randall Wayne and Tammy Lynn Simmons; one grandson; brother, William “Bill” Powell; sister, Wanda J. Powell and her husband Jack Peak.
A memorial service was held Jan. 25, 2021 in Birch Funeral Chapel Ash Grove. Cremains will be scattered at Sinking Creek Cemetery, Everton at a later date.
