VERNON E. EIDE

Vernon E. Eide, 85, of Republic passed away on Jan. 31, 2024, with his family and his dog, Bailey by his side. He was born on Jan. 17, 1939, to John and Evelyn (Johnson) Eide in Schroeder, Minn., one of seven children in the home.
He graduated from Cook County High School in Grand Marais, Minn. with the class of 1957. He later attended Crowder College in Neosho,  graduating in 1984.
On June 25, 1960, he married the love of his life, Joanne Gilpin.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joanne; daughter, Linda Kauffman two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his four-legged buddy, Bailey; brother, Richard Eide; sister, Lucille (Charlie) Nelson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth, Edward, and Lawrence; and sister, Julie.
A celebration of life will be held in the springtime.
