WILLIAM “BILL” GREEN
William “Bill” Green, 76, of Republic passed away at Cox South on March 19, 2024. He was born Nov. 10, 1947, in Gainesville to Troy and Dorothy Green.
He was a 1965 graduate of Republic High School. He joined the US Army in October 1966, and served in Vietnam and Germany, earning the rank of SP5(P) during his 3 years of service.
He returned to the states, started a family, and began working at Monarch Machine Company. He and his partner, Bill Beck, later purchased Monarch. He spent over 35 years as a top-notch machinist and welder.
He met Jeannette Dorf playing softball in 1984, they married and spent just shy of 40 years together.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette; his son, David Green; his step-daughter, Jena Peterson of St. Louis; his brother Larry (Sharon) Green of Florida; his sister Linda (Steve) Kittle of Springfield; four grandchildren; his step-granddaughter; two nephews; numerous friends, co-workers, and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Green earlier this month.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 23, at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield. Burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
