3 local road projects next week

Highway 266, Route AB, Route MM set for upgrades
 
Drivers can expect nighttime lane closings and occasional traffic delays on three routes in Greene County when contractor crews resurface the state routes beginning the week of Sept. 6, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The locations are
- 2.7 miles - Missouri Route 266 between Greene County Route AB to I-44 in Springfield
- .75 miles - Greene County Route B between Missouri Route 266 and I-44 north of Republic
- 3.7 miles - Greene County Route MM between I-44 and U.S. Route 60 in Republic
This project includes installing new guardrail and a two-foot shoulder in areas on Route 266 and Route MM.
Nighttime lane closings can be expected between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday nights through Thursday mornings. Crews could work Friday nights into Saturday mornings to make up work missed due to weather delays. Drivers can also expect flaggers and pilot cars directing them through the work zone. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.
Traffic Impacts
- Traffic may be reduced to one lane where contractor crews are laying asphalt.
- Work will be done during nighttime hours, all lanes open to traffic during the day.
- Drivers will encounter flaggers and pilot cars where crews are working. Drivers should wait for the pilot vehicle before proceeding through the work zone or before entering the work zone from a side road.
- Crews and equipment may be close to traffic in areas.
- No signed detour. Drivers may need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations.
- Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers approaching the work zone.
Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule. Blevins Asphalt Construction, Mt. Vernon, is doing the work for a low bid amount of $1 million.
The project is to be completed by Nov. 1, 2021.
