Adams County murderers sentenced in Greenfield

An Adams County murder case was wrapped up in Adair County Monday, May 16, when Jon Rubendall, 42, and James Bost, 40, both of Hiawatha, Kansas, were sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of Allen Pafford, 44, in his Nodaway home in Adams County. 

Pafford’s body was found June 20 by his mother with his hands and feet bound, a bed sheet around his neck and a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

Rubendall and Bost have said they went to Pafford’s home to collect a drug debt.

Both men entered guilty pleas to second degree murder.

In sentencing Bost, Judge John Lloyd said he finds it “shocking sentences in such a serious matter can be so short.”  The sentencing hearing took about 10 minutes for each.
