AGPD promotes, swears in officer to full-time position

In a short meeting the evening of June 3, the Ash Grove Board of Aldermen made quick work of a light agenda.
The high point of the evening was the swearing in of Ash Grove reserve police officer Matthew Adkins to a full-time position, following the departure of another officer from the department.
Adkins was sworn in by City Clerk Melissa Mau. Adkins’ employment comes with a 90-day probation period, after which a review will be done. Adkins will earn $14.46 per hour and receive insurance and a retirement plan.
The board also voted unanimously, 4-0, to accept Mayor Les Gardner’s appointment of Brenda Ellsworth to the Ash Grove Planning and Zoning Board.
In other action, the board voted 4-0 to:
- Vacate part of an alley on the plat of Walker and Bentley’s addition.
- Table a discussion about property and liability insurance.
The board also discussed the future of the Ash Grove court and its use of Show-Me Courts software. A decision to use Show Me Courts was delayed pending cost information for the board.
