Ash Grove’s Roudybush gets suspended sentence, probation after foot pursuit

An Ash Grove man received a suspended 180-day jail sentence and two years of unsupervised probation after pleading guilty to resisting arrest. Shane Roudybush, 35, pleaded guilty to the charge on Thursday, May 21, as part of a plea agreement.
According to the probable cause statement, officers with the Ash Grove Police Department responded to a disturbance call at Pennington’s Supermarket on March 16, 2019. There, staff told the officers that Roudybush had thrown down his bicycle and began yelling at and threatening to fight the employees. He then got back on his bicycle and left.
The officers went to Roudybush’s residence and spoke with him. Roudybush told one of the officers that his outburst was due to a combination of factors, including being unemployed, living in a trailer house and not having a vehicle. He said he had also drunk some alcohol earlier.
The officer asked for Roudybush’s identification; he said he’d go inside the residence and get it. He later came out and said he didn’t have his identification, so the officer took his information verbally and ran it through Greene County Dispatch. The officer also asked Roudybush if he had any warrants for his arrest; Roudybush said he didn’t.
While the officer was waiting for dispatch to get back with him, Roudybush said he needed to go check on a fire he left burning behind the trailer and began jogging towards the north end of the trailer.
The officer followed him, and then Roudybush began running, jumped a fence and continued northeast.
The officer pursued Roudybush, but lost sight of him near a wooded area. Multiple agencies responded to aid in the search for Roudybush, and during the search, a civilian told law enforcement that Roudybush was laying down in a nearby field.
Officers searched the field and apprehended Roudybush. Asked why he ran, Roudybush said he knew he had a warrant out for his arrest. Asked why he lied about not having warrants out for him, he replied, “I knew I was going to jail; did you think I was going to be honest with you?”
Roudybush was taken to jail and booked for the active warrant.
Roudybush’s plea agreement also requires him to complete 20 hours of community service by Nov. 21 and pay court costs by Jan. 1, 2021.
