City to get updated basketball goals at park
Marshall Decker, a CPA with Decker and DeGood, Springfield, gave a positive report in terms of the fiscal health of the city of Ash Grove. The city earned a clean, or unmodified opinion, on its annual audit which was the best possible result.
“You’re in good shape,” Decker told the Ash Grove Board of Aldermen at its Monday, Oct. 5 meeting. “You can plan improvements.”
Ash Grove has earned a reputation for fiscal responsibility as evidenced by clean audit reports every year in recent memory.
In other business, a petition is circulating in hopes of stopping a planned mile per hour change by MoDOT from 25 to 35 on V highway on the north side of town. The petition will be presented to MoDOT as input from residents weighs heavily on their decision.
In other announcements, Mayor Les Gardner reported there will be changes coming to Ash Grove City Park. First, three ash trees on the north side of the park are going to be removed, as mandated by Liberty Utilities, as they are in conflict with existing power lines.
Secondly, and on a positive note, new basketball goals are being installed at the park.
Gardner also publicly thanked the Ash Grove FFA for helping clean up the park and around town as part of a public service.
“We greatly appreciate it,” Gardner said.
