Ash Grove R-4 re-ups contract with CMH; tweaks test score evaluation

The Ash Grove School District, by permission of the board of education, will sign a contract with Citizens Memorial Healthcare (for the Ash Grove nursing facility) agreeing to supply school busses in case of an emergency at the facility.
The action passed on a 5-0 vote at the March 25 Ash Grove Board of Education meeting. The agreement will be for three years, as was the last contract.
In other action during the meeting, the board voted to move the April meeting to April 15.
It was also announced that the Ash Grove High School track has been freshly striped and was ready for the upcoming track meet. The track meet, however, was canceled due to inclement weather.
Also during the meeting, Ash Grove educator Austin Houp gave a presentation on the pending changes that will soon take place regarding how the district analyzes EOC/MAP test scores. Using new parameters, test scores will be more specifically gauged which better indicate success throughout the district.
Opening the meeting was a presentation by members of the Ash Grove Beta Club, who outlined their performance and success at state competition. The board later OK’d a summer 2019 trip for students to National Beta Convention which will be held in Oklahoma City, Okla.
