Berklacy arrested in Ash Grove for domestic assault, other crimes

A Springfield man was arrested in Ash Grove on a variety of charges after he allegedly forced an area woman into a bedroom against her will at her residence and tried to keep her from leaving her home. Alexander Josef Berklacy was arrested in Ash Grove on Tuesday, Feb. 11 booked into the Greene County Jail early the next morning. He is currently charged with unlawful use of a weapon, kidnapping and two counts of domestic assault.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, the victim reported Berklacy arrived at her residence and asked to see someone who wasn’t there. The victim said that about 20 minutes after being allowed into the house, Berklacy picked her up against her will, carried her into a bedroom in the house, put her on the bed and positioned himself on top of her. She said he pinned her down while she was trying to push him away, and he repeatedly made sexual comments to her, saying, “Come on, just have sex with me,” even after she told him no.
A toddler entered the room and created a disruption, allowing the victim to exit the bedroom and go into the living room. She said at first Berklacy tried to block her from leaving the bedroom, but eventually relented due to the toddler crying.
The victim said that, as she entered the living room, Berklacy took her cellphone away from her. She said she asked for it back, and Berklacy refused. She said she then retrieved a container of pepper spray and asked for the cellphone again, and this time Berklacy gave it to her. She said he also tried to stop her from getting shoes and coat for the toddler so they could both leave the residence, and also said Berklacy displayed a revolver, which she recognized as being similar to one that was stolen from a residence he’d stayed at in Springfield.
The victim also said Berklacy told her he would only get seven years “because it wasn’t premeditated.”
The investigating officer reported the victim had visible redness on her shoulder and right ear due to her interaction with Berklacy.
Berklacy appeared in court on Friday, Feb. 14, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Online records stated his bond was set at $50,000, and if he is released on bond, Berklacy will be required to wear a GPS device and be on house arrest. As of press time, he remained in the Greene County Jail.
