Carol M. (LaChapelle) Atterberry

Carol M. (LaChapelle) Atterberry, 94, of Walnut Grove, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025. She was born June 25, 1931, in Beaver, Wis., to Alfred Joseph and Nina Mae (Lalone) LaChapelle. On Dec. 31, 1950, she and Roy Lee Atterberry were united in marriage and shared over 52 years together, before Roy’s passing in 2003.  
She was a Christian before anything else and a member of Harold Baptist Church. She worked as a civil servant at Fort Leonard Wood, working in different capacities such as tent repair and hospital receptionist. She also worked at H.D. Lee in Lebanon for many years. She had a God-given talent of painting and painted many portraits of family throughout her life. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  
She is survived by her children Debra Sappington and husband Rick, and Clint Atterberry and wife Sue; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Atterberry; siblings, Faith, Gene and Junior.
Visitation was at 1 p.m. until service time, Sunday, Oct. 5, at Wilson-Griffin Funeral Home, Walnut Grove. Funeral services began at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with burial following at Greene Lawn Cemetery, Walnut Grove.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to St. Joe Indian Reservation School and may be left with the funeral home.
