Santa and Mrs. Claus wave to the crowd of parade goers as their float makes its way through downtown.

Winners of the parade float contest, and recipients of $250 for their efforts, were the RepMo Jeepers. Shown is the lead Jeep from the Jeepers, one of many.

Thousands gather along Republic's Main Street for 62nd annual Kiwanis affair

Thanks to an afternoon showtime and nearly tropical weather for the season—60 degrees– Saturday's 62nd annual Kiwanis Christmas parade in Republic packed Main Street with thousands of onlookers excited for the show. The hour-long parade, which included 35 entries, was only part of the attraction as the inaugural Christmas on Main Street was in full swing with vendors lined up downtown and churches—including Hood UMC with their live nativity—also participating.
Parade awards went to first place winners Rep Mo Jeepers, $250; second place to Zell Family, $200, and third place to Jenkins CPA, $150.
Event organizer, Kiwanian Justin Hart considered the day a resounding success.
“We were all thrilled with the number of people lined up multiple rows deep along the entire parade route. The consensus is this is the largest attendance we have seen in recent years,” Hart said. “As a club we are so proud to be able to continue to put together the parade for the Republic community. Part of our fundraising throughout the year is done so we can continue to provide this annual tradition. We have such a generous community here in Republic, and love to be able to give back to them through the excitement and joy of our annual Christmas parade.”
