City of Ash Grove ballot features two races; no school board race for R-4 district

Residents of the city of Ash Grove will have two choices to make on their April 2020 election ballot for city government. With the Jan. 21 deadline to file in the rear view, we now know two candidates will contend for the mayor’s seat, and two others for the Ward 2 aldermanic position.
Mayoral incumbent Les Gardner is vying for reelection and will face local business owner Marc Schwenn.
In Ward 2’s race, longtime alderman Troy Watts will try to stay seated against challenger Sadie Ferwalt.
Ward 1 Alderman Jerry Kane is running unopposed in his pursuit of maintaining his current spot.

Ash Grove School Board...
As the deadline passed at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, it was clear who would be running for the three available Ash Grove Board of Education seats—and they’re all incumbents. Board members Matthew Hancock, Jerry Morton and Caleb Smith will retain their seats on the board without an official election since they’re all running unopposed.
