Dollar General breaks ground on new Halltown store

Halltown residents will soon have a new shopping option. Dollar General has begun construction on a new, 7,300-foot store in the township at 24314 Highway 266, near where the highway intersects with O highway. The store is slated to hold its grand opening this fall, depending on how construction progresses.
Angela Petkovic, with the retail chain’s media department, said that when the store opens, customers will have a wide choice of items to purchase.
“Dollar General sells quality name-brand and private brand merchandise,” she said. Petkovic added Dollar General picked the Halltown location because they were determined it would provide the most convenience to the largest number of people in the area.
“When choosing store locations, meeting customers’ needs is Dollar General’s top priority,” she said.
“The company looks for places where we can offer customers an easy and convenient shopping choice.  We know convenience is a major factor in our customers’ shopping decisions as we generally serve customers within a three to five-mile radius, or 10-minute drive.  We also take demographic trends, competitive factors, traffic patterns and community concerns into consideration.”
Beyond shopping, Petkovic also said Dollar General is a boon to the communities it locates in because they support efforts to promote literacy through grants.
“Dollar General is deeply involved in the communities it serves and is an ardent supporter of literacy and education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation,” she said, “which awards grants each year to nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries within a 20-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribution center to support adult, family, summer and youth literacy programs. ”
