Dynamic Strides Center gets special use permit to expand Republic operation

Dynamic Strides Aquatic and Therapy Center, 2673 East Sawyer Road, has been given the green light by the Republic City Council to expand.
156 Corner LLC applied for a special use permit amendment to increase the maximum building square footage of Dynamic Strides from 30,000 square feet to 31,500 square feet. Republic staff recommended the approval of the special use permit.  An ordinance granting such was passed on a 6-0 vote at the July 23  Republic City Council meeting. The vote was absent members Brandon Self and Gerry Pool.
The increase in square footage for the clinic will allow for an expansion of approximately 7,200 square feet to the existing structure. The proposed expansion will include a multi-purpose room, treatment rooms, restrooms/changing rooms, and a swimming pool for aquatic therapy session.
Also during the meeting, the council voted 6-0 to pass an ordinance changing the classification of approximately 1.31 acres from general commercial to medium density single family residential owned by Sergiy and Alla Pyatenko, at 3455 East Benton.
Later, during the finance report, Finance Director Debbie Parks reported the city’s sales tax revenue was up 1.43 percent over this time last year. She added that she was confident the percentage would be higher still once all of the reporting at the state level was straightened out.
