Edward Arnold Zahner

Edward Arnold Zahner, 76, of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025. Born on Feb. 15, 1948, he was the son of Alonzo and Lillian Zahner.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a chief while stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he dedicated himself over 30 years to working as an inspector for the USDA.
As a devoted father of three sons, he was deeply involved in scouting, serving as a Scoutmaster and sharing his love for camping, fishing and hunting. His commitment to community extended beyond scouting—he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Men’s Club in Billings, where he generously gave his time and talents.
He will be remembered for his service, his love of the outdoors and his unwavering dedication to family and community.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Zahner, and three sons: Michael Zahner; Ronald Zahner and his wife, Chanda; and Daniel Zahner and his wife, Nanci. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Lillian Zahner; sister, Cathy Werner, and brother, Ronald Zahner.
He will be buried at his family cemetery at a later date.
