Everett Cowan

Everett “Lee” Cowan, 69, of Walnut Grove passed away Aug. 16, 2025 after an almost two-year battle of heart disease. Cowan was born on July 8, 1956 to Genevieve and Everett Cowan in Humansville. On June 23, 1984 he married Glenda Nelson and they settled in Walnut Grove to raise their family.
Cowan had a huge heart and was always helping others. After Glenda’s passing, he moved back in with his sister and they both enjoyed that time together immensely. She took care of all his medical needs and he tried to help with what he could while being stubborn and cantankerous.
He was preceded in death by his parents, little sister Ann, and his wife Glenda.
He is survived by his son Eric and fiancé Kristin, of Aurora; daughter Rachel Phillips and husband David, of Springfield; a granddaughter and foster grands, courtesy of Rachel and David; sister Sue Cowan of Walnut Grove; brother Richard “Dick” Coombs and wife Kristen of Springfield; nieces and nephews and cousins.
