Golden Palace open for business in Ash Grove

Golden Palace sits with its name newly adorned above the doorway and a fresh coat of paint.
Ash Grove has received a new Chinese restaurant after the not-so-recent closing of the previous one, Lucky Star. Golden Palace will serve a similar cuisine, but this time, under the leadership of Hien Thach.
Golden Palace inhabits the same building many other restaurants have occupied at 200 East Boone. The previous restaurants, Lucky Star, Joy Wok, and Golden Dragon, were operated by members of Thach's family, with some of them moving away to start new businesses. The family once leased the building, but Thach, the current owner of the business and building, purchased it about 10 years ago.
When Lucky Star went out of business, the building stood vacant for a time, which led Thach to want to start his own restaurant at the spot. He had helped with the previous restaurants and had experience owning his own business in the industry, previously operating Golden Palace in Springfield.
"I put it up for rent for a while, a year, and nobody wanted it, so I just decided to come back here," said Thach.
This new business will look to improve where the other businesses have failed. Thach has already undertaken a facelift of the building. After an extensive cleaning of the interior, the exterior of the building was painted, and new signage was placed above the doorway.
Thach hopes to succeed where others have failed in the Ash Grove restaurant business because of his extensive experience. According to Thach, his 30 years in the restaurant industry will be the key to his success, claiming that his cooking is likely much better than those who came before. On top of that, though, Thach claims that his consistency in his operations will lead to success.
“The taste [is different]; it becomes original," said Thach. "I've been in the restaurant business for 30 years, so you know my cooking is probably much better than who came before."
Thach hopes that by opening this restaurant he can better serve the community of Ash Grove. He said that he enjoys the small-town environment and the people that come with it. The restaurant is now open and accepting customers.
