A masked gunman entered Hood’s Truck Stop at about 10 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 and removed $1,300 from the store’s cash register before fleeing. No one was harmed during the encounter.
Bill Duncan, the store’s manager, said when the gunman came into Hood’s while three employees were in the store; no customers were present. The gunman pointed a shotgun and ordered two of the employees to leave their cellphones on the counter and go into the back; he then ordered the cashier to open the register and get the money for him.
After taking the money, the robber fled in a Dodge truck with a fuel tank in the back and no plates. Duncan said it was unknown which direction he went.
A posting about the robbery on the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page described the robber as “a middle-age, heavy-set white male with a white goatee.” It also stated the gunman “was wearing a mask, gloves, a black stocking cap, Kansas City Chiefs jacket, blue T-shirt and blue jeans.”
In a reply to a media inquiry, the sheriff’s office stated, “We are still working on the case, but (have) no leads as of yet.”
