Halltown Dollar General open for business, grand opening event set for Sept. 7

For the first time in decades, Halltown now has its own grocery store. The newly built Dollar General opened its doors the morning of Monday, Aug. 26. The new store, which at 12,000 square feet is  larger than the standard Dollar General store, has already had a good reception from the community.
“This is our newer model that we’re building now. We’re looking at incorporating our larger freezers, larger coolers. We also have expanded non-consumables, which is our home decor area in this store. … It gives the smaller town the option to shop like a bigger retail store,” said Stephen Black, district manager for the Springfield area. “We’ve had a lot of foot traffic from the surrounding area. Very supportive. We’ve touched base with some of the local churches and businesses and they’re excited to have us in town.”
Although the store is officially open, a grand opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7. As part of the celebration, vendors will be present to take part in giveaways, and Dollar General will be giving out $10 gift cards to the first 50 people, and a tote bag and tumbler to the first 200 people. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The store is managed by Miller native Brook Peltier, who recently worked at the Aurora Dollar General location.
Hours for the new location are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
