Hines & Oakwood set to reopen soon

Construction progress could allow traffic to move again by end of November

After weeks of detours, traffic may soon be flowing again through the intersection of Hines St. at Oakwood Ave. Contractors expect to have some lanes complete and open by the end of November. Additional construction not requiring long-term road closures will continue through next year.
The intersection has been closed since the end of summer for reconstruction. The completed project will include widened streets approaching the four-way stop, turn lanes, as well as sidewalks and crosswalks.
The work is currently in Phase One. So far, crews have relocated a water line and valves and have made stormwater and drainage improvements. Phone and gas lines are also being moved in anticipation of the new sidewalks. Weather permitting, this phase is set to be done sometime between the middle and end of November. At that time, through lanes will reopen for traffic.   Additional work will continue at the site, however. The contractor has until July 2019 to finish.
