In the early-morning hours of Tuesday, Sept. 28, the Republic Police Department responded to a check well-being call at a residence in west Republic on Normandy Street, in a newer subdivision that sits nearby the department. When police arrived, they found a husband and wife, Daniel Lee Reynolds and Zenia Wai Sha Reynolds-Woo, dead from gunshot wounds.
In response to a media inquiry, Allyssa Dudley, public information officer for Republic, stated that Daniel Reynolds is believed to have killed Zenia Reynolds before turning the gun on himself. In response to a question as to if a determination had been reached as to who was responsible for the couple’s death, she replied, “the husband.” She also said it was believed the murder-suicide took place before 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, that the weapon used was a handgun and no note was left explaining why the murder-suicide took place.
During an interview at the scene of the crime with RPD Lieutenant Jamie Burks, Burks said the well- being call was made by the children at the residence.
Dudley added that the investigation was almost complete, as of press time.
“The investigation is only awaiting toxicology reports,” she said.
