Willard P.D. Chief McClain says it’s ‘too soon to name suspect’ in case
As the investigation into the murders of Willard’s Alexander Chute and Brianna Sproul continues, Willard Chief of Police Tom McClain says they are getting closer to making an arrest.
“The investigation is going well with advancements occurring on a daily basis, sometimes hourly,” he said.
Chute, 28, and Sproul, 30, were found dead in their home in Willard on Saturday, Nov. 14, at around 9 a.m. Their deaths, McCain said, are being investigated not only by the Willard Police Department, but also the Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Investigations Division, The MOCIC and the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. McClain said there were “several calls for service” to their residence prior to the murders, without elaborating on what the calls were about.
Earlier, McClain said the couple was targeted. Asked what led him to believe they were targeted, he replied, “The initial crime scene and follow-up investigation,” without elaborating.
McClain said he expects charges to be filed against a suspect soon, but also said people will need to be patient.
“It can take weeks, sometimes months, to gather all the data, analyze all the evidence then rightly divide it,” he said.
At this point, McClain also said, it is too soon to name a suspect in the case.
“While the investigation is going well, we are not ready to disclose motives or suspects at this time,” he said.
Anyone with information on the case is encouraged to contact the Willard Police Department at (417) 742-5341.
