The mangled remains of a Farr Better Plumbing truck driven by Kyle Bernard, of Springfield, lies in a ravine under I-44, about four miles west of Mt. Vernon. According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on Monday, Feb. 8, Bernard, 36, was driving east on I-44 when his vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet C2500, went into the median and struck the median barrier. The vehicle went airborne and struck an embankment. Bernard, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. The truck suffered total damage and was taken away by Silverado Towing.
