LOVENA ELLEN (GRIFFIN) MACKIE

Lovena Ellen (Griffin) Mackie, 88, of Republic passed away on Sept. 8, 2024, just three days after her daughter, Sherry. She was born on July 8, 1936; the daughter of Roy and Vina (Chastain) Griffin in Lebanon.
She married Roy Mackie, on Dec. 19, 1953, they shared over 70 years together.
She worked at Southwestern Bell in Lebanon for one year and Cox Hospital for 16-1/2 years, from 1979 to 1996.
She is survived by her husband Roy; daughter, Cynthia (Randall) Doran; seven grandchildren; siblings, Stanley Griffin and Virginia Sue Lowe; 17 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sherry Mackie; her sister, Mary Goodwin; her grandson, Calen; and her great-great-granddaughter, Oaklyn.
A visitation is scheduled at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Meadors Funeral Home in Republic. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Lee Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest in Lindsey Cemetery following the services.
