MDC invites families to learn about archery at Andy Dalton Range

Free June 26 clinic will cover fundamentals of archery.

An increasing number of people are becoming interested in archery. Some families are taking up archery because people of all ages can enjoy archery for hunting purposes or for recreational target shooting.
Parents, grandparents, and kids can learn more about how archery can become an enjoyable family activity at the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) “Learning Archery: Family Archery” clinic on June 26 at MDC’s Andy Dalton Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. This free program, which is from 3-4:30 p.m. is open to all ages but individuals under 15 years of age should be accompanied by an adult. MDC’s Andy Dalton Range and Outdoor Education Center is located at 4897 N. Greene County Farm Road 61.
At this program, MDC Assistant Outdoor Education Center Manager Steve Govero will focus on the fundamentals of archery. Topics covered at this seminar include nomenclature, hand set, bow set, pre-draw, stance and more. This clinic will feature both a classroom session and time on Dalton’s archery range where people can practice their skills. People can bring their own bow or use archery equipment provided by MDC staff.
