Motorcyclist killed in Republic in truck collision

A motorcyclist was killed in Republic, Saturday afternoon, when a vehicle pulled out in his path. Steve Hammer was driving his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 60 when the driver of a truck pulled out in front of him causing the collision.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to help Hammer’s family, Hammer was a former Greene County Sheriff’s deputy, a veteran, and a federal correction officer in Springfield. Hammer was also a husband and father of two. He was on his way to work when the crash occurred.
