Movin’ on up

New Republic School District buildings taking shape

Construction at the Republic School District is going full steam as walls have now gone up on the Schofield Elementary FEMA building, shown above. Josey McPhail, director of communications for Republic schools, said the exterior walls for the gymnasium/high wind shelter—which were each brought in individually by a semi truck and placed with a large crane—are now almost complete. McPhail added that the concrete for the Early Childhood building, which is being built on Hines Street just across from the Schofield FEMA building, is wrapping up its concrete work. She said that the high wind shelter walls for that building would be brought in soon, as well.
McPhail said everything is still on schedule, and the district is hopeful for a fall 2022 completion. The buildings and other upgrades were paid for by a bond issue passed by voters in April of this year.
