Mud Runners get sloppy on rainy Saturday

A rainy Saturday, Aug. 24, made that much more mud for the more than 1,000 youth mud runners who made their way through obstacles and around the challenging track in Brookline.
“With over 1,000 mudders in attendance, the 2019 event was the largest got Mud? Run to date. Ages of participants ranged from 4-69 with over 50 cities and three states being represented,” reported Republic recreation supervisor Steffi Weaver. “Youth and adults alike were able to slip, slide, climb and run their way through the muddiest course in the region. Two-thousand twenty will bring exciting new offerings to the got Mud? Run and hopefully an even bigger crowd. This event is a community favorite and it’s the best way to end your summer!”
Clockwise from top left, Clean youngsters take off at the starting line in the first group of racers at Saturday’s mud run. Several boys negotiate the barrels trying not to fall in the mud hole. Getting a grown-up assist, kids smile as they trek through the formidable mud.
