PAULLETTE CALHOUN

Paullette Calhoun, 73, of Aurora passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield. She was born in Aurora on Oct. 9, 1951; the daughter of Bernard and Roah Nell (Chaney) Lechner.
She was a 1969 graduate of Verona High School and received her bachelor’s in business education from Missouri State University in 1972. She worked for the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon from 1973 to 1977, was a stay-at-home mom until 1991 when she went to work as a paraprofessional for the Aurora School District, retiring after 19 ½ years in 2010. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
On May 5, 1973, she married Rick Calhoun in Verona.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rick; two daughters, Allison (Andrew) Tilley of Republic and Leigh Ann Calhoun of Willard; one son, Michael (Misty) Calhoun of Monett; 10 grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Brenda) Lechner of Verona; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Terri Lechner; and brother, Ken Lechner.
A funeral mass under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora was held on Thursday, July 3, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Aurora, burial followed at the Calvary Cemetery in Verona. Rosary was held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
