Popeye’s in process of coming to Republic; permit under review

Location would be by incoming Andy’s Frozen Custard

Yet another national food chain is looking to establish a location in Republic. Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, famous for its spicy fried chicken and Cajun-style foods, has applied for a permit to open a restaurant in the city.
As of press time, the project was under review by the city’s Technical Review Team, who Jennafer Mayfield, interim communications officer, said was reviewing architectural and site plans for the project.
Mayfield added that Popeye’s would be a great addition to the number of businesses which are opening locations in Republic.
“Every new restaurant or business that decides to call Republic their home adds to the overall growth and attractiveness of the city of Republic,” she said. “In this instance, it will add yet another dining option for our community.”
If the project is approved, Popeye’s will open a 2,500 square-foot restaurant at 1397 U.S. Highway 60, next to the location of the future Andy’s Frozen Custard.
