Republic’s Tiger Theatre tackles a ‘Beast’ of a classic to open season performances

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” opens this year’s season with a bang at Republic High School’s Tiger Theatre, featuring music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice and Howard Ashman. This beloved musical has been produced on stage, television and screen, winning an Academy Award. It will come to life on the RHS stage on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at Republic High School.
Featuring a cast of 40 Republic High School students, the score and script provide a definite challenge to the actors. The characters are each unique and interesting for the students to develop, all while maintaining the fairytale atmosphere that brings the story to life. The backstage crew will be tested to use their new specialized skills to transport the audience into this mythical environment.
“Beauty and the Beast” will be presented on Thursday-Saturday Nov. 21-23, 2019 at 7 p.m. and Sunday Nov. 24, 2019 at 2: p.m. at Republic High School.
