Republic City Council approves preliminary plat for Auburn Hills

Republic City Council gave the green light to yet another subdivision set to be built on the east side of the growing municipality.
This time, the council OK’d a preliminary plat for Auburn Hills, a residential subdivision that will reside at 2887 East Hines, assuming it comes to fruition. The plan was recommended by staff for approval as was conveyed during the meeting by Karen Haynes, principal planner.
The development will be on 35.3 acres in east Republic, on the north side of Hines. The land is a former farmstead that sits around Harrington Cemetery. It was recently purchased by Bussell Building, and more recently rezoned for the major project, which consists of 120 residential lots, with an average size of 9,391 square feet.

Also during the council meeting…
- The board unanimously passed an ordinance for an intergovernmental agreement with the office of State Courts Administrator for Show-Me-Courts Court Automation software.
- The board heard the first reading of an ordinance to change city code to allow the additional 50 percent charge for utilities provided to a user outside of the city limits with or without execution of the voluntary consent to annex, until such time the user is annexed into the city.
- The board also heard the first reading of an ordinance that would prohibit parking within six feet of a United States mailbox.
