Republic Council approves new roof for Republic Police Department

The Republic City Council, at their May 7 meeting, OK’d a bid of $54,995 from Roof One, LLC to reroof the Republic Police Department. The bid was the lowest of four bids submitted. The highest bid, which was submitted by Capital Roofing, came in at a whopping $127,000.
As per the contract, the roofing must be complete by July 12, 2019.
In other business, the council—in the absence of council member John Jones—voted 7-0 to:
- Amend the municipal code, Chapter 235, Solid Waste Management, and add Section 235.020, Yard Waste Disposal Site.
- Authorize signers with Bank of Missouri. This authorizes newly-elected Mayor Pro-tempore Matt Russell to replace Charlie Brashers as a signer.
- Authorize a second change order for the Hines and Oakwood Transportation Improvements. Unsuitable material was found for roadway bedding and needed to be replaced to pass density tests. The total additional cost of the change is $66,658.86.
In the early moments of the meeting, Mayor Jeff Ussery read two proclamations. The first was for National Foster Care Month, which was proclaimed for May 2019. Ussery read and then presented the proclamation to Tabitha Aleshire and Allison Gregory, with Foster Adopt Connect.
The second proclamation was for Republic City Employee Appreciation Week, May 13-17. It was presented to Republic’s Lisa Addington.
