Republic firefighter promoted to engineer; city changes company to roof RPD

Republic Fire Department’s  Jeff King was officially promoted from firefighter to engineer at the June 4 meeting of the Republic City Council. In a short ceremony led by Republic Fire Chief Duane Compton, King was pinned with his new pin by his son Landon King. King earned the promotion after passing a certification test.
In the early minutes of the meeting, the council voted unanimously, 8-0, to accept the final plat of the Monte Cristo Phase Six Subdivision. The subdivision is set for development in south Republic, just west of South Main Street.
Phase Six will divide 4.19 acres of land into 20 residential lots.
The preliminary plat of Phase Six was originally approved by the council 13 years ago in March of 2006.
In other action, the council voted 8-0 to:
- Amend municipal code by creating Chapter 525, small wireless facility deployment.
- Enter into an agreement with Midwest Public Risk for property and liability insurance for fiscal year 2019-2020.
- Award a bid to reroof the Republic Police Department to A-1 Guarantee Roofing for a cost of $61,685, per their bid. The bid originally was awarded to Roof One who withdrew once they learned of the insurance required for the job. The roof is to be finished by Sept. 13, 2019.
- Authorize Task Order No. 8 with Burns and McDonnell to develop a comprehensive stormwater design manual for the city at a cost of $55,800.
