Republic kids scramble at Easter Egg hunt

A chilly morning with temperatures hovering in the low 40s, didn’t deter determined Easter egg hunting children at Republic’s annual Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Republic Parks and Recreation Department at J.R. Martin Park. The event also featured multiple inflatables, games, an appearance by the Easter Bunny, left, and emergency vehicles to peruse courtesy of the Republic police and fire departments.
Parks Department Recreation Supervisor Steffi Weaver estimated that 700 youths, some shown above, participated in the frigid search, that included more than 10,000 Easter eggs, some of which were prize eggs. Ages of participants ranged from infants to 12 years old. (Photos by Ryan Squibb)
