Fall Festival returns! The Kiwanis Club of Republic will hold its annual Fall Festival at Garoutte Field, at the corner of East Hines Street and North Hampton Avenue from Thursday, Aug. 19 through Saturday, Aug. 21. The festival is returning after being canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns.
Randy Williams, Kiwanis Club president, said the festival will have its traditional attractions. “Fun Times Shows is returning this year,” he said. “We will have several booths, (and) bingo will be played every evening. There will (also) be a variety of musical entertainment each
evening, (and the) queen candidates will be crowned Saturday night.”
Williams said the Kiwanis Club felt it was important that they move forward with the festival.
“The Kiwanis Club is all about giving back to the community,” he said, “so if we can provide an outdoor event for families to get out and enjoy good food and live entertainment in a social distancing atmosphere, then it only makes sense to continue the tradition.”
While the Kiwanis Club is moving forward with the event, precautions are being taken to help keep attendees safe.
“We will have wash stations,” Williams said, “and social distancing will be encouraged.”
Williams also said the event also helps students with the transition from summer vacation into school.
“The Fall Festival comes at the beginning of the school year so it is a way for everyone to celebrate getting back to school,” he said.
Because the event was planned with attractions meant to appeal to people of all ages, Williams said there will be something there for everyone to enjoy.
“The Kiwanis Club of Republic would love to have everyone come out and support us,” he said. “It’s an event for every generation as we have rides, good food and bingo for the adults. Kiwanis Fall Festival has been a tradition for Republic over
50 years.”
Admission to the Kiwanis Club Fall Festival is free and open to the public, though rides and other attractions will have a fee. Parking will be available at the Price, Schofield, and McCulloch elementary schools, as well as J.R. Martin Park. More information is available at the Kiwanis Club of Republic’s Facebook page. Vendors interested in purchasing a booth should call Randy Williams at (417) 894-1587.
