Republic makes huge haul at citywide cleanup

Last Saturday, the city of Republic hosted a citywide cleanup, which was met with great results. In total, the city collected 250 tons of trash, which equates to 45 full trash trucks. According to Republic Services, this was a record haul. The next largest haul was 160 tons at another city several years ago. Unwanted tires were also collect at no cost. Residents brought in 329 passenger car tires and 40 lawnmower tires. Above, rows of discarded tires are stacked in the parking lot of the Republic Community Center, Saturday morning.
