Republic OK’s big build on North Main Street land

Another subdivision in sight, this time 42 homes next to Republic elementaries

Second verse, same as the first. Republic City Council was again asked to green light a preliminary plat for a new subdivision at the body’s Sept. 21 meeting. The plat proposed was for the possible future development Ashford Place, a 9.32 acre residential subdivision set to occupy land on the north side of Lyon Elementary School and Sweeny Elementary School.
If built as planned, the new project will include 42 residential lots averaging a scant 7,279 square feet per lot, a density of 4.51 lots per acre.
Despite the smaller than normal lot size, the council voiced no opposition to the development located at 924 North Main Street and voted unanimously in favor of the resolution’s passage.
Also, passing with no opposition was
- An ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with City Utilities of Springfield to bring power to the Republic city gateway sign on U.S. Highway 60;
- An ordinance to enter into a cost apportionment agreement with the MIssouri Highway and Transportation Commission for the maintenance of painting on signals at State Highway 174 and U.S. Highway 60.
