District awarded honor held by no other school in state, only 23 other school districts in nation

The Republic R-3 School District was recognized as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) Model District by Solution Tree during the Republic Board of Education’s meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18. Ben Tilley, of Solution Tree, presented the board with a Solution Tree PLC flag and certificate during the meeting. Republic is the first district in Missouri to win this honor; only 23 other school districts in the nation have it.
Dr. Debbi Yonke, director of professional learning and instructional support for Republic R-3, said the district went through a “rigorous process” to apply for the recognition.
Yonke said the recognition by Solution Tree demonstrates how dedicated the faculty and staff of the district are to student achievement and learning.
“We believe (the recognition) shows the hard work and dedication of the educators throughout the system and their commitment to excellence for our students,” she said. “This is a collaborative process that has been built upon over the past five years, and will be an on-going journey for us as we work together to provide the best for each of our students.”
More information on the district’s PLC system is available on the district’s website. Go to www.republicschools.org, and find the article titled “Republic named PLC Model District by Solution Tree” on the website’s main page.
