Republic wins girls track district title, first time since 1993

Lady Tigers top Nixa, overcome one-point deficit in final round of contest- 4x400
For the first time since 1993, the Republic girls track team has won a track & field district championship. The team edged Nixa 130-127, overcoming a one-point deficit in the final race of the day. The decisive 4x400m relay win in the last race featured Gracie Woods, Kristin Probst, Rilynn Finley, and Alaina Norman.
Sophomore Gracie Troester had a standoiut day for the Lady Tigers, participating in four events and winning all of them. She contributed 40 points to Republic's overall score of 130. Troester's wins included the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m races, along with a contribution to the 4x800m relay win — along with Probst, Woods, and Cali Thompson.
Alaina Norman won a district championship in the shot put. On the boys' side, Zion Allen also shined by claiming two district championships in high jump and long jump.

Several other Republic athletes finished in the top four to advance to sectionals.

    •    Probst finished second (behind Troester) in the 800m run.
    •    The 4x200m relay team —Woods, Brooklyn Douglas, Norman, and Belcher — finished fourth.
    •    Finley finished second in the 300m hurdles.
    •    Kailey Manes finished second in the high jump.
    •    Jenna Belcher was fourth in the long jump and second in the triple jump.
    •    Norman finished third in the javelin.
    •    The boys 4x800m relay team — William Payne, Aslan Ebisch, Joey Mullins, and Brady Purcell — finished fourth.
    •    Kendell Curbow finished fourth in the pole vault.
    •    Cooper Douglas finished second and James Rexroat finished third in the javelin.
