A Rooted Soul store touts high-end, American-made clothing in Ash Grove

If you’re looking for some of the latest in fashion, but are on a budget, you might want to check out A Rooted Soul, a new clothing boutique in Ash Grove. The store opened for business in January.
“We like to keep high-end, current styles of clothing for all ages, but at an affordable price,” said owner Ashley King. “We focus from 0-months all the way up to 24-plus size. We have boutique, which is brand-new items that we order in from wholesalers and we also have resale clothes that is all name brand, no stains, that we offer.”
King said Rooted Soul has clothing that can’t be found anywhere else in Ash Grove.
“There is nothing like this around here,” she said. “If people want that new outfit for date night, or their kids have spilled something, or birthday party, you can stay local and those items are available for you.”
A Rooted Soul is not the first business King has owned; she owned and operated Upscale Resale for five years before closing it down to stay and work at home. Now, she’s returned.
“I have decided to come back and get involved back in the community and offer something that isn’t … offered down here,” King said.
While Rooted Soul and Upscale Resale are both clothing businesses, King said there are some important differences in the way she is doing business now.
“Our last one, we were completely resale,” she said. “We had people that brought items in, and they would receive store credit or cash. We also focused a lot more in baby supply items at our old store; this store we have a lot more new items. We’re not doing any store credit; we’re not carrying baby items, and we’re trying to carry more high-end items.”
Like many small boutique owners, King gets her merchandise from wholesalers. However, she is adamant that none of her merchandise be foreign made.
“It’s all made in the USA,” she said.
King recommended anyone wanting to keep up with what A Rooted Soul has to offer should like the boutique’s Facebook page.
“We run sales twice a week through the store,” she said. “We always post them there, and we always post when new inventory arrives.”
Additionally, King said just because something wasn’t on display in the boutique on a certain day doesn’t mean they don’t have it.
“If you come in and didn’t see something, there’s a good chance that there’s something the next day, because we put about 100 items out daily,” she said.
