Ruck ’N’ Run this weekend

This Saturday, Nov. 9, runners and ruckers from around the area will congregate in Republic for the fifth annual Ruck ’N’ Run. The military-centric event is set to begin with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at Meadowview Baptist Church in west Republic, 1100 W. Highway 174.
The annual affair can be as leisurely as a 5.56 kilometer walk/run, or can include up to 7.62 kilometers of running with seven workout stations. Either can include the burden of a special backpack, known as a rucksack.
Last year’s run, although hampered by record cold temps, enjoyed record high attendance—300 registrants. Many of whom donated canned food, as the run is not only a fundraiser for veterans, but also a food drive.
Any runners who would like to participate but can’t make it in person, can compete in a virtual event. For more information or to register visit
