The death of a Springfield woman, whose body was found on a farm road in Republic, is being investigated as a homicide.
“We can confirm the death of Amanda Fox … looks to be a homicide and it is being investigated as such,” Mike Landis, public information officer for the City of Republic, said in a communication.
Fox, 35, was found dead on Farm Road 156 on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 2, by two passing motorists, who then called 911, according to a city press release. At the time the city reported Fox’s death, they said it did not appear Fox had been struck by another vehicle and had died of another cause.
Landis said that presently, it had not been determined how long Fox had been on the road before she was discovered.
“We don’t know how long Ms. Fox had been lying there,” he said. “The passing motorists who called 911 did so before 7:15 p.m. Farm Road 156 isn’t an incredibly busy road, however, there is normally
a steady trickle of passing cars that time of evening. No motorist called to report Ms. Fox in the road prior to the 7:12 p.m. dispatch. She was pronounced deceased when officers arrived, but that is the only information I have at the moment.”
Results of a medical examiner’s report are pending. Anyone with information in the case should contact Detective Bene Stephenson at 417-732-3961.
