Shine Inc. rallies support with Father’s Day car show
Hot weather and cool rides combined on Main Street, Ash Grove, Sunday evening as part of the inaugural Cruising for a Night to Shine event. The gathering was a well-attended booster for Shine Inc., a local non-profit organization that supplies formal prom attire for students who might otherwise go without.
A total of 44 vehicles entered the show, which also included live music by 2 Country 4 Nashville—courtesy of Mama Loca’s—a silent auction and a prom fashion show. The first-time fundraiser tallied more than $3,500 in proceeds at the end of the day.
“This event was better than I ever expected,” said organizer Aimee Gerla. “I have never organized an event like this before, let alone a car show. I was very nervous about the attendance because it was on Father’s Day and because I didn’t have a personal connection to the car community. I was so overwhelmed when I saw all the classic cars show up and the spectators from all over came to the event. This town is amazing and I am so blessed to be a part of it.”
