Tin Ceiling to expand across street

Ash Grove event venue The Tin Ceiling, located on the south side of Main Street near its west end, is looking to expand. The bustling business recently purchased two vacant, aging buildings from former Ash Grove mayor Les Gardner, and looks to transform them into usable space directly across the street from their current location. The worse of the two buildings, the last attached building on the north side of Main, has already been razed—with the exception of its front, which touts its history as Birch Furniture Store and Funeral Home. That space will be used as an outdoor event space, according to Tin Ceiling owner Cassy Ballard. “The plan on the end with the building that was taken down is to have outdoor event space. It will be an outdoor extension of the venue. It was important to us to keep the front facade and thankfully it stayed intact,” Ballard said. “We would like retail of some kind in the building next to it, but not sure our timeline on it yet. The outdoor space will hopefully be ready by late summer.” (Photo by Ryan Squibb)
