U.S. 60 walking bridge on docket for Republic City Council

In recent months, Republic City Administrator David Cameron has loosely mentioned a walking bridge over U.S. Highway 60, just south of the Hines Street intersection, to help students headed to and from Republic Middle School avoid traffic.
It seems the city is done talking and ready to ask the city council for a green light to commence the build.
It’s been announced that the bridge proposition will be discussed at the July 9 Republic City Council meeting. The announcement was made publicly on Facebook and was accompanied by multiple artist renderings of what the bridge could potentially look like. The lighted, brick structure will span completely over U.S. Highway 60 just south of Hines Street, the normal crossing hot spot for Republic middle schoolers.
While the bridge may be on the next agenda, it likely wouldn’t be voted on until later meetings.
